Foam sclerotherapy also referred to as ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy, is a cutting-edge varicose vein treatment. Foam treatments for varicose veins have a number of advantages over liquid-based treatments, especially for treating larger veins.
Generally, a liquid is injected to treat varicose veins during classic sclerotherapy techniques. With foam sclerotherapy, the liquid is injected as a foam, which irritates the vein to cause its gradual disappearance. The foam offers better ultrasound visibility, which enables a larger amount of foam to be used.
