EVLT VARICOSE VEIN REMOVAL BY DR. DISHAKJIAN
This is a 33 year old Caucasian woman, of Russian origin, from Reseda, California, who presented with bulging varicose veins in the back of the right knee. Duplex venous ultrasound revealed a large incompetent perforator vein (a short communicating vein), that fed these bulging surface veins from the deep vein system of the leg. As the after pictures show, 6 weeks following shutting down this incompetent perforator vein with the laser ablation (EVLT) procedure, the varicose veins have shrunk remarkably and spontaneously without direct treatment. Additional sclerotherpy injections for these surface veins would have resulted in a more perfect cosmetic outcome.
